A+ Program
Buffalo High School, A+ Information
The A+ scholarship program at Dallas County R-1 continues to be a great resource for students. This year Dallas County R-1 schools awarded 50 graduating seniors the opportunity to utilize the A+ scholarship in 2023-2024. In order for students to obtain A+ eligibility, they must meet a number of requirements. The A+ program at Dallas County R-1 requires each student seeking A+ funding to meet the following expectations:
-
Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher throughout their high school career
-
Have a 95% cumulative attendance record
-
Perform and document 50 hours of unpaid, supervised tutoring or mentoring through the designated school program
-
Enter into a written agreement prior to graduation and attend an A+ school for at least two years.
-
Maintain good citizenship within the school
We believe that our program has set a high standard for students and continues to hold students accountable. To continue growth within the program our school has implemented several educational opportunities for students throughout the year to help provide information about A+ eligibility. Mr. Neill and our Counseling team works with each grade level to ensure that students are aware of the requirements needed to obtain eligibility. For the past two years we have met with each grade in the Shewmaker Auditorium to outline the requirements of our program, and work with students individually to help them understand what they need in order to meet the program expectations.
Our district has been able to successfully place each student in a classroom environment that is engaging and beneficial to student growth. The A+ scholarship program at Dallas County R-1 is in good standing, and continues to improve each year.
